Nothing epitomized Tuscany more to me than Italian Cypress trees, rolling hills, world-famous wineries, the renaissance in Florence, and as the movie Under the Tuscan Sun showed us: a great place to get away from it all. With a few days to spare during my trip to England for a wedding, Mark and I made our way south to explore Pisa, Florence, and the Tuscan countryside. Here’s how we spent our three days.

October was one of my busiest travel months ever. After heading west to California for a work trip, I made it back home just in time to drive a few hours south to celebrate Markell’s birthday at Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia. A week later, I journeyed across the pond for a quick jaunt to Italy’s Tuscany region, followed by visiting friends in England and attending a wedding in Wales. Right off Virginia’s Route 7 in Loudoun County, Virginia sits the former High Hill Market Place. The building, built in 1948 as an apple-picking and cold-storage facility for Hill High Orchard, has been reimagined in recent years as Bogati Winery.
