Jumping Around in July

July was a month of jumping from destination to destination each weekend – I was only home one weekend all month! Summer just feels like a freer time where it is easier to plan a lot of travel, at least in my family.

Highs

  • So many trips! First was a weekend in Harper’s Ferry white water rafting and walking around the historic town. The next weekend was spent in the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach. It was sweltering outside so we quite literally spent the day split between jumping waves in the ocean and in the pool. This past weekend was a bachelorette girls trip to Charleston for my girlfriend Ashley. We explored the city, did yoga, had great dinners out, and enjoyed our time together.

  • My bathroom partial-renovation is finally complete! My new shower is stunning and taking a bath feels like I’m in a relaxing oasis.
  • I booked a trip to Portugal in the fall. Mark’s friends do a group trip every year and this year we’re going to Faro, Portugal. I also added on a extra few days to explore Lisbon. I’ve been to Porto, Portugal and loved it so I’m hoping I feel the same way about the rest of the country.

Lows

  • Getting Robbed in Harper’s Ferry. When I was in Harper’s Ferry, my friends and I had left our luggage and purses in the car assuming it was a safe area. Unfortunately, while we were walking around the town someone broke the front window of the car and stole my purse and two of my friend’s purses. We filed a police report but I doubt we’ll being seeing our stuff again. Fortunately most of the items in my purse are replaceable and I had minimal cash in my wallet. It was my favorite Kate Spade purse though.

Coming Up

Upcoming plans for August include my week-long summer vacation to Mexico! We are staying at an AirBnB in Cancun for two nights, followed by the rest of the week at an all inclusive near Playa del Carmen. I am so excited to relax and be able to shut my brain off for a week.

Also, Labor Day weekend I’ll be traveling up to Pittsburgh for Ashley’s wedding. I’m looking forward to exploring a new city and all the festivities surrounding her nuptials.

What are your plans for August and the fall?
