A Spring Weekend in Asheville, NC

Asheville, North Carolina has a little bit of something for everyone. It has a plethora of breweries and bars, ample delicious restaurants and eateries, a strong arts scene, and plenty of opportunities to get outside in nature. Our visit in mid-April was marked by temperatures in the mid-60s, which was the perfect not-too-cold, not-too-hot temperature to explore the city. Here’s what we did, ate, drank, and where we stayed in Asheville.

One Day in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio (in Winter!)

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is not your typical national park: it is tucked into a relatively suburban area 20 miles south of Cleveland, Ohio. Don’t let that fool you though – there is a lot to do and see in the park. We had one day to explore and as we visited in late February, we had to plan our visit based on what is available in winter. The activities we did can be done at any time of the year though, as the park is open year round. There is no cost to enter Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

A New Years Experiment: One Month Without Social Media

On the afternoon of December 31, 2023 I made an announcement on Instagram and Facebook that I would be taking January 2024 off of social media and not returning until February.

I stuck with my month off social media, and now that January is over, I thought I’d share a bit of why I wanted to take this break, how it went, and what I think will change for me going forward.

A Winter Weekend in Newport, RI

Newport, Rhode Island is a popular destination year round and has a lot to offer in winter. It was particularly magical when we visited in late December as much of the city was decked out in Christmas lights. Be sure to bundle up, and make the most of wonderful Newport!
