In summer, nothing beats a day by the water. This past Memorial Day weekend, Mark and I spent a day in the quaint waterfront town of Solomons Island, Maryland. Located just under two hours from both the Baltimore and Washington DC areas, the town makes for a great day out. Here’s what we did while there.

Ghost tours are one of my favorite ways to explore a city. They help connect us to the history and issues of a time past and understand what lays behind the surface of a place.
I recently did the Baltimore Bewitched: Raven Bones & Ballads Ghost Tour with Baltimore Ghost Tours, part of US Ghost Adventures. The ghost tour I did focused on the Fells Point area of the city.

Traditional travel has been a bit quiet for me for the past few months since I’ve shifted to spending my time visiting colleges with Markell. After hiking across the state of Maryland on the Appalachian Trail via a series of section hikes in 2022, I started eyeing if there were any other states I could reasonably cross on foot again.
Since I live in Maryland, I started by researching other states around me and found that there is a trail that runs across the state of Delaware. The trail starts in Chesapeake City, Maryland as the Ben Cardin C&D Canal Trail and then once it crosses into Delaware changes names to the Michael Castle Trail, ending in Delaware City, Delaware.
