Mystery and History with Baltimore Ghost Tours

Ghost tours are one of my favorite ways to explore a city. They help connect us to the history and issues of a time past and understand what lays behind the surface of a place.

I recently did the Baltimore Bewitched: Raven Bones & Ballads Ghost Tour with Baltimore Ghost Tours, part of US Ghost Adventures. The ghost tour I did focused on the Fells Point area of the city.

Max’s Taphouse, one of the ghost tour stops

After connecting at the tour’s meet up point, our tour guide, Bruce, brought us around various sites in the Fells Point area. In the almost hour and half that the tour lasted, he did a great job of intertwining the history and associated mystery and ghost stories of each location and sharing it with us. He was clearly knowledgeable about the city, and as nightfall came upon us, I could almost picture the tales we were being told.

Fell Family Cemetery, one of the ghost tour stops

A few of the story highlights for me was finding about press gangs in local bars, the mystery of where the Fell family (the namesake of the neighborhood) is buried, and the three B’s of Fells Point – bars, brothels, and boarding houses – and how the area being a historic port fuelled the need for these services.

The Cat’s Eye Pub, one of the ghost tour stops

I really enjoyed this tour and felt engaged with the storytelling. Even living in the Baltimore area now for almost five years, and having been to Fells Point many times, the information Bruce shared was all new to me and was a great and fascinating way for me to learn more about the city.

To book the same ghost tour that I did, visit here. Baltimore Ghost Tours also offers a Baltimore Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl if you want to enjoy a few drinks while you learn about ghost stories. Use code NOELLE10 for 10% off either Baltimore tour.

Fells Point waterfront

I highly recommend spending some time either before or after your tour exploring Fells Point. This harbor front area is one of the most charming neighborhoods in Baltimore with a variety of shops, bars with live music, and restaurants.

US Ghost Adventures hosts tours in over 170 cities. I have also previously done their tour in Richmond, Virginia.
